I have an iphone 4 and and a 2011 XJL. I have had no issues pairing everytime I enter my car.

I suspect you will not have any issues with the Iphone 5.

having issues with my wife's iPhone 5 skipping when streaming, and when connected via USB, randomly switching to streaming - stopping the music until you press the bluetooth streaming option on the console..
Have a couple of posts about it here, no answers yet ..

Do you use any of the streaming apps like Spotify or Rhapsody? Any time I try to use the dock connector it doenst show any of the info and it continuously jumps back to the bluetooth connection. Also there are times that the BT connection skips kinda like if the phone is getting too far away from the car. Its really frustrating.

I used to have the BT connection problem also where it disconnected from the dock connector and switched to the bluetooth connection. But after my last service visit in Nov, they applied all the latest software updates to the car and the problem has gone away.

One side effect though is that the bluetooth connection itself has gotten weaker. When on the phone, I always leave my iPhone in the cupholder. After the update, the connection is so weak that the audio call is barely intelligible. Pulling the iPhone out of the cupholder fixes the problem.

I've experienced the same issue with the dock connector rejecting back to bluetooth when its connected.(Iphone 4S) I'm going to go try it with the Iphone 5 today. I'll keep you posted.

For me the problem persisted when I moved from the 4S to the 5. I hope you have better luck!

I have a iPhone 5 as well. Same issues. Not sure who needs to fix there software. I would be better if it could use the dock connector because I am sure bluetooth doesnt send the full kps file.

I Just came in from testing my Iphone 5 in the Xj. I first connected the phone to the ipod dock in the car. Everything worked fine with no issues. I then disconnected it and let the bluetooth take over. Again everything worked fine:no dropouts, all the info was displayed on the dash screen and the streaming apps all worked great. I recently had the car in for the first service. It's possible they did an update.

Default Random Switching between bluetooth and USB

I posted this same issue a while back. The car, it seems, can actually take two distinct bluetooth signals-- one for phone, and one for audio. Ive been able to work around it using the following method. Wait for your car to sync the phone in bluetooth, then attach the usb cable. Next, go to the audio settings in my music, and disconnect the phone from bluetooth audio, and choose the ipod.

Annoyingly, it will not save to this setting, but at least you have full ipod functionality.

Hope this helps.
