Hello all - I have a new key fob from my 2014 XJ that I sold but kept the fob (I had 3). A friend of mine has a late model Landrover I think it is a 15. Will my key fob work on his Landrover?
IMHO, If the fob was never setup then I believe it would work. Also, if it works you can easily change the case to Land Rover as my dealer stocks the cases for both and, I think, they cost $25 or less.
I'm pretty sure that the spare Smartkey from your 2014 XJ will not work on your friend's Land Rover unless it has first been "divorced" (unpaired) from its parent XJ and then "married" (paired) to that LR and then reprogrammed to correspond with that LR.

XJsss' statement ".. if the fob was never set up..." is correct, but why would the spare fob for your 2014 XJ not be set up to work with the car? Odds are that spare fob was paired and programmed to work with that XJ. Your Jaguar dealer or indy mechanic with the proper Jaguar SDD scan tool can unpair/pair/program that Smartkey.

I don't think this is correct for the XJ; I have successfully programmed a used X351 key as a spare on my 2012 XJ using SDD. Stuart is correct when it comes to the XK (X150), which has a docking location and used keys need unpairing and pairing to work in the dock.
