Jaguar XJ Adding Rear Seat Entertainment
Once "paired" the remote communicates (you could say controls) the front head unit to load dvd/fast forward etc for the rear screens, see attached guide. The remote does not control the front screen in terms of what it displays. Could you share the X-Dave instructions for CCF modification - I have been unable to get my replacement remote recognized by the head unit and maybe there is a mismatch in CCF.
In any case, I was able to control a DVD that was playing on the front screen from the rear seats with both the old and new style remote. I was able to do this in limo mode.
Are you able to control the rear screens while the remote is both docked and undocked?
Ok I was hoping there was some CCF field or SDD option to edit the remote pairing/frequency as I read a Range Rover forum post which talked about resyncing "JLR specialist and they had to resync the remote to the head unit"
Good find
My replacement remote is not recognized, docked or undocked, that's why I'm looking for any help in getting it "paired". I know the battery is good.

I have purchased 3 old styled remotes and 1 new styled remote. The old style remotes are very finicky! Which is why I’ve purchased so many. The first remote that I purchased worked intermittently. I would get the flashing orange lights. When this occurs, the remote is inoperable and doesn’t control anything. Later, the orange flashing lights would later go away and it would start working again. This problem occurred so much, that I purchased and additional remotes. The other 2 old style remotes worked and I didn’t get the flashing lights. I ended up selling one of them. Long story short, there are known issues with the older style remote. There are a few Jaguar threads on this issue. This is likely why JLR transitioned to the newer styled remotes. You could have a defective remote as those remotes are hit or miss.
There is no CCF bit for remote paring however there is one for the companion docking station where it can be enabled and the frequency can be changed. However, I would bet that the remote is defective. That would be my best guess based off tinkering with the RSE system for over the years. My front head unit was swapped out for a unit from a 2014 XJ and I’ve purchased several RSE remotes that have all worked without additional programming. I’d say that the remote is the culprit. I hope this narrows down the problem.

I only have a 2018 (with a 10" screen), so I can't speak for the precise options in an earlier car, but on mine it is:
Select the Settings cog
Select "All Settings"
Select "Features"
Select "Media"
Select "Rear Media".
(I tried to take photos, but it is dark here and the flash obscures what I am trying to take pictures of!)
