Hi, i have a Jaguar XJ series but i don't know where i can see if it is XJ or XJ series i or XJ series II. Where can i find that information?

This is the forum for the current XJ model (2009 onwards) but I'll leave your post here so you can easily find it and my reply.

You can usually find model information in the registration documents but the year will help identify the model.

XJ6 Series 1 (1968 - 1973)


XJ6 Series II (1973 - 1979)


The shorter front grille and indicator lights below the bumper are the most obvious differences on the Series II.

That is an X308 (1997 - 2003) with the V8 engine. Marketed as XJ8. Yours may have a Sovereign badge on the back?

I had a similar one.

Thank you i will do so. one more question. Do you know what the meaning is for cat? Because on some jaguar models it is said: JX8 4.0 cat....what does this cat means?

 

Possibly CATS or computer aided technology suspension. To confirm if CATS equipped, look under the bonnet and locate the front shock absorber mounts, if they have wires running to them and have black plastic caps it is CATS equipped if not, it isn't.
