Default Loud Fan after my car is turned off

For the past two years, my 2008 Jag XJ8 (VP) has a really loud fan that stays on after the car is turned off. So loud, people mistaken it as the car is still on. My mechanic has tried several things but the loud fan persists. But the timing doesn't make sense.... I could turn my car on for a couple minutes then turn off. The fan stays on, super high speed. On the flip side, i could drive 4 hours in 90+ heat and the fan doesn't stay on when the car is shut down. Any clue???

Have you tried asking the group of the 2008 XJ8 forum (X308)? They may have a better idea of what you're describing than the 2010+ XJ (X351) forum members.
It's a completely different car.
