I have on order a XJR and would like to make the exhaust louder. Please can someone advise me the best way to do this or recommend a company for this.

 

msfaml, you can always go the way of say a Mina exhaust system. It will add a little bit of volume without getting obnoxious or getting a drone inside the car.

If you are after the "I'm a muscle car" sound, then you are looking custom. From there, you can get a shop to do what many refer to as a "cat-back" setup. In short, they are going to remove all the piping from the catalytic converters back. From there, they will run new piping. This will remove the resonator and the factory mufflers. You will want to install a cross-over pipe (a 30 degree x-pipe should do what you are after) with say a 40 or 50 series muffler (keep things legal, yet give you maximum flow and lots of volume under hard acceleration).

The one word of caution that I will give you is that opening up the exhaust on the newer cars can cause issues with the O2 sensors, leading to check engine lights. So, as you are talking with local shops, ensure that if they cause a light to come on, they will make the necessary changes to get rid of the light at no additional cost.
