Low Battery (Please Start Engine) AND Jaguar Remote App not finding car
Not sure these two issues are related. They started around the same time:
1. Battery turned one year old and car started giving a Low Battery (Please Start Engine) message as soon as the car is turned off. Courtesy lights, radio, etc immediately shut down. Car is a daily driver and I've driven it on long-ish drives to charge up battery with no luck.
2. Also, the Jaguar Remote / InControl app lost contact with the car around the same time. The remote features (Climate and Door Lock) don't work and with winter approaching I'd like to preheat the car when I'm on the train home.
My independent Jaguar mechanic said it sounds like a computer issue and he can't help. Have a dealer appointment on Monday which starts with a $249 diagnostic fee and goes up from there. Welcome any suggestions before I drop it off.
Thank you Jaguar Forum friends!

Greg W, Yes, regardless of the age of your battery, as the learned members of this forum will tell you, first check the resting voltage of the battery. It must be 12.6 volts or better for the systems on the car to function correctly. You could have a failed battery even at it's young age.
Thanks everyone for your advice. I had the battery tested today and it's sitting at 12.1 volts. It's an 18 month-old Die Hard platinum H8-AGM. Seems like the right battery for the car. Testing showed alternator is fine and there's no parasitic drain.
I'm going to look into a smart battery maintainer, it's cheaper than the $249 dealer diagnosic. There a so many to choose from, I'll search the forum for recommendations.

GregW, if you're going to invest in a a battery maintainer, you will find that most of us will recommend the CTEK. Jaguar dealerships use them in their showrooms. There are various models and they all perform great. Mine is a CTEK MXS 5.0 charger/maintainer. It comes with alligator clips and also a nice wiring pig tail for permanent installation with a convenient quick connector. When connecting the maintainer leads, do not put them across the battery terminals. The positive (red) lead goes to the positive battery terminal. The negative (black) must be connected to chassis ground at a body stud or bolt and not directly to the battery terminal for everything to function properly.
