Default Maintenance period??

I had my SC since July 1st 2011, and only has 11k on it, and my dealer says it's every 15k maintenance. I'm curious on everyone' opinion on this sort of high miles between maintenance. For such a high performance car I'm really surprised at the length of the maintenance, and I was reading the booklet and it seems to say 15k or 6 months in between(I think). My other cars like Rover and Audi and Lexus all have it set around 5-7.5k miles between service. Obviously they're not high performace engine like Jag but still, engine is engine.

Did anyone else do oil change or anything outside of the Jaguar included maintenance???

15,000 miles or one year. Dealer told me last week.
Also there is leeway in miles. Before the 15,000 miles a dashboard light should come on telling you to get ready for the event.

Thats what I was told. I have about 10,800 so we will soon see.

~70' here and beautiful~

This is my concern as well. I just got my new XJ and was wondering if it is a good idea to get an oil change after 3000 miles. This is to get the metal shavings out of a new engine. Couldn't hurt.

Don't foret it is "either < nn thousand miles> or <every 12 months>. Many owners will find they don't get to 15k in a year. so need to service each year on a calendar basis.

I took mine in for an oil change after 7,500 miles. I offered to pay for it and was told it would count towards one of my 15,000 mile changes. No charge...... We'll see what happens when I take it in at 15,000 which is coming up soon.

The car will remind you on the 15k miles or 12 month interval. At around 11 months, the service reminder message started appearing on my car at every startup with only 5k miles on it.

My service light came on at about 11 months when I had about 10,000 miles and that's when I took it in for the oil change. Since I only drive 10,000 to 12,000 miles per year, I will probably be getting the oil change once a year when th service light comes on and that should be covered under warranty.

It can't hurt, but routine changing of oil at 3K mile intervals became outmoded and redundant in the '70s. Old habits die hard for many people and the oil change people just perpetuate the supposed 'need'.
