Default Moving to Jaguar

Hello there, my 1st post!
After years of being in mainly German cars and admiring Jaguars from afar, I have decided to take the plunge and buy an XJ in Italian Red/Ivory.

From reading some of the posts on here I can see that some owners have had a few problems but I think in the main it seems to me that most members are happy with their decision to buy a Jaguar....am I right?

Tell me I'm making the right decision, I know it's ultimately up to me, but a little reassurance never hurt anyone!

Thanks

Welcome aboard!

You will love the XJ and as most people get board with cars as time goes on, it's the opposite with Jaguars. It will get you to loving at more by the day as you get to know it.

In terms of reliability, they as good as the German cars, maybe even better. The only known issue is related to a battery drain. It can be easily fixed by a reprogram - just have to take a trip to the dealer.

I made the switch to Jaguar a few years ago and I haven't looked back. Yes, the cars may require a little more care than, say, a Japanese car. But it is so worth it. Many other cars may be better drivers, but NONE are as satisfying to own.

Hi XJMarque,
I think you'll be pleasantly surprised and if not, you'll be amazed. Jaguar are cherished cars and although you will be well aware of the German stamp on modern cars, the Jaguar will unleash your inhibitions like a woman from your dreams.
Enjoy the thrill and I wish you well in your decision, I won't drive a German car, they are well made but don't qualify in character status and reassurance as I simply believe a Jaguar is the best car you will ever own. They are simply unique in so many ways and I dislike other brands for all looking the same, square and boxlike. I relish the Jaguar Brand and treat it as a compulsive rather obsessive disease, or affliction the only trouble is... I actually bloody well enjoy it........... Bon chance, Regards, Stu
Ps, You are very welcome to the forum and we look forward to your choices being a success and a happy posting of your triumphant new pictures and your adventures with Jaguar....

After a long and steamy affair with the Germans, I kept eying the sexy English lady in the corner. Finally made the switch a couple years ago. Better than Viagra! Go for it and you won't look back.

XJ - I was in your shoes 2 years ago; I was very hesitant to jump in due to the reputation. However, mostly due to the people on this board, I bought an '05 VDP. It's had it's share of problems, but it was dealer serviced (with records) and very well- kept. Personally, I would advise that you budget for some repairs, and go for it. I really, really enjoy the car. I also get many compliments on it. Good luck. What year are you looking at?

As a first time Jag owner, I can attest to that....I love my XF more and more each day, and definitely love the feeling of getting in it every day. An absolute joy to drive and I'm sure you won't be disappointed in the XJ. The XJL is on my bucket list to upgrade to one of these years.

I to made to switch 2011 xj , and i'm happy wth it. I was for many years a porsche owner 914, 924, 924 turbo, 911 turbo, boxster, all nice cars but the boxster give me many problems, i still have it. My next car
i looked at many cars lexus, mercedes, audi.
But always like the power and look of the jags, was looking for xf supercharge, but found 2011 xj used 16,000 miles from a mercedes dealer fell in love with the car. Fully loaded, black ,black interior

happy to be the few owners around my neighborhood (california, orange county)
ther are six e class mercedes on my street alone.
As for reliablity, alway a concern. I have 3 year full maintenance,
couldn't go wrong.

Congrats on your switch to Jaguar! Good color choice, but what secondary shade & wood have you chosen for the interior? Is it Ivory/Truffle which is usually popular.
I plan to get an XJL SC with Ultimate Black/Cashew/Truffle/Burl Walnut within 2 years.
