Default Need a crankshaft replacement unit. Pls help!

I need a crankshaft for a an XJL x351 5.0 supercharge. Its been 1 month since the bearing gave way. Somehow I didnt get a warning sign of low fuel pressure and the bearing gave way.
My car has done less than 100,000 km.

I'm baffled by this on such a good engine.
I am in dire need of a crankshaft for his engine. PLease let me know how and where I can get one shipped to me. Cheers!

Welcome to the forum Danesh sovo,

Sorry to hear about your engine failure.

I was suprised to find the crankshaft for the 5.0 litre is not listed in JEPC (Jaguar Electronic Parts Catalogue) either for your S/C or my N/A engine!

They are extremely difficult to find and none of the usual Jaguar spares specialists here in the UK list the part.

I have found two on ebay:

USED - 400 UKP
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JAGUAR-LAN...kAAOSwdBZau~MP

NEW - 1250 UKP
http://www.ebay.nl/itm/JAGUAR-RANGE-...cAAOSwUjpZkgPv

The same crankshaft appears to fit both Jaguar and Range Rover 5.0 S/C from 2008 onwards but check part numbers carefully.

Thanks Graham. I’ve contacted the 1250 new unit guy. But despite going through the VIN number he’s not sure if it will fit.

As you sid the part number is not listed per say and he can guarantee a return.

Im still in a bind.

Im still perplexed as to how there is no warning for low oil pressure for such a key component for a high performance car !

It's sad but there are so many catastrophic engine failures, my indie mechanic said that he's seen so many, and most fail with no warning. They get towed in, and he has to tell the owner the sad news, and usually the cost is so great people just scrap them, I bought mine that way with a bad motor, and in calling around to shops and dealers, it's seems to be way more common than people think. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the look and driving this beast, but it keeps breaking. I fix almost everything myself and have been working on cars my whole life. And I've never had a vehicle develop little issues every few weeks like this. I'm fixing the driver window regulator as we speak. I could imagine the cost of ownership if you didn't repair yourself.

There are no internal 5.0 litre engine spares available from JLR, including connecting rods, crankshafts, pistons, piston rings and bearing sets.

If the crankshaft is being replaced, the main and rod bearings should also be matched for correct fit. How is that going to be accomplished?

It may prove less costly and simpler to find a used engine assembly to match the electronics.

Replace the water pump when the engine is out of the vehicle.

I also agree, your best bet is to find a low mileage motor to swap. Check the carfax from donor car. You can also sell the good parts of yours to recoup some cost.

I would normally agree with that approach but Danesh sovo is in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia which seriously impacts options for engine repair or replacement.

Yes gentlemen, unfortunately I’m in malaysia. Though there is a good number of jags around, it would be hard to get a good engine replacement. Though I’ve not given up yet.

Are there any good engines out in the UK?

And thank you all for your continued input and thoughts on this matter !

Did you search online for 3rd party shipping companies. I know someone who had a very heavy boat motor shipped from New Zealand to Florida and it wasn't as much as I thought it would have been. Try searching for estimates from California as there are usually lots of LKQ used 5.0's available there. The same block you need is from many different jag models and also range rovers. At least as a last resort you can search online and see what companies are willing to ship it and get some estimates. So Sorry and good luck.

The engine must match the electronic system for everything to work correctly. Earlier cars used Denso engine management while the later ones use Bosch.

I recently put a 2016 bosh 5.0 sc in my 2011, the hardest part for the shop was the cam position sensors to delete the start stop, and the electric throttle, vs vacuum for supercharger, But both engines will work if you have a good shop. But yes the easiest would be to match the computer system with your model so it's plug and play, But there were a lot of improvements made in 15 MY with oil flow, bearings, water pump, and timing gears and tensioners are now updated too so the newest aj133 is a better motor and worth the extra work if your shop knows how to do it and your planning on keeping the car a while. They fixed a lot of the big issues that cause the most common failures. It was a pain in the *** for my shop, but the car runs great.

I found this thread, I guess the guy had a source for the bearings. Not sure of these parts still exist or if they have undersized bearings but it would be worth a look..
