Good luck with the e-diff. If you need a new one, it is about $5k plus install. Your diff may be toast. Get it looked at at a shop asap.

Why did you buy a car with transmission and differential issues? I would have run away fast. Transmission is tens of thousands to replace if it needs it, and servicing is not cheap either on the ZF.

Musty climate control could mean A/C issues or blower box issues. Again, have it checked at a shop.

Well I got a good deal on the car plus im not an average Jaguar owner I sopose . I specialize in ECU tuning and reprogramming on Denso and Now Bosch type of ECUs on Jaguar cars. Have fastest 5.0 sc Denso car , highest dyno # for 4.2sc car and will soon have great results im sure for 5.0 Bosch car as I now have aquired one. Btw just got Ediff issue resolved by reprogramming one of the modules, hasnt came back yet after few days of heavy footed driving

A musty odor from the AC means there's mold in the system. Replace the cabin air filter and spray some Lysol antiseptic spray in that compartment to kill any remaining mold spores. Run the AC on high speed with outside air to circulate the Lysol through all the ducts including face, feet, and defrost. You may need to repeat the Lysol treatment several times before the odor is completely gone. Leave all the windows and sunroof open when parked in your garage.

Also check the AC condensate drain and sunroof drains and make sure they're not clogged. There should be drips of water under the front of your car when the AC is running. Clogged sunroof drains can cause water to accumulate in the trunk.

With those miles I would change the diff oil right away. Super easy on the XJ too!
Here is my short write up on the service.

Thanks did all that still some smell.
Using ultraviolet air filter at night in the car locked up and that has helped quiet a bit so far

Update for you guys. So more extensive logging with SDD I determined that bank one mass air flow was reading less air than it was supposed to . Replaced one mass air flow sensor nand fuel trims are back to normal! All codes gone

Hi Alex! Could you kindly tell me which modules did you reprogram?

i am having a 2011 xjl supercharged and the same issue. The warning sign pops up saying e diff unavailable and dynamic mode does not activate if i press it. Also the same symptoms of shuddering while driving a little. There is a weird smell that comes from the engine after driving a little (coolant burning?) yet the oil levels and coolant are fine.

Showed it to my mechanic and he was stumped too. Any help would be greatly appreciated

i will also attach few codes that were stored:

try reprogramming ediff module specifically. In my case I couldn't reprogram it as was getting an error, so I went and modified active session file which makes reprogrraming to multiple modules and this did the trick for me. I am using SDD JLR
