New 2014 XJL
I looked through the 2013 XJL handbook on line and could not find any reference to low fuel warnings. I did a search on the PDF of all instances of fuel as well as low and warnings. I guess I'll need to read the actual printed manual. Thanks
FWIW my own X350 car, (previous model to yours), has a low fuel light. It comes on when you turn on the ignition, then goes out when the fuel gauge needle rises, (unless fuel is low, of course !). I have to say, I would not expect Jaguar to have omitted such a vital warning in the new XJ.
The 2014 XJL will display a low fuel message along with a warning lamp on the instrument cluster as well as displaying nearby gas stations on the navigation screen. Depressing the trip switch on the left hand switch stalk will toggle information such as estimated mileage range and average miles per gallon. Hope this helps!
That is a big help. Our 2004 XJ8 and our 2011 XF had a low fuel warning. I'm glad there will be an alert. I don't know how many times I've called her to tell her to look at her fuel level.
I looked in the owners manual regarding charging a low battery or jump starting, but nowhere does it give the location of the battery or batteries in the 2014 XJ with the Supercharged V6 and stop/start operation. The dealer mentioned that there were two batteries because of the additional requirements of the start/stop operation but I forgot to ask the location.

The batteries are in the trunk next to the spare tire. I believe the second battery is used exclusively by the auto start/stop.
After two weeks and about 1,000 miles all I can say is what a beautiful car. This is our 5th Jaguar having had a 1990 XJ6, 2002 S-Type, 2004 XJ8 and a 2011 XF Premium. They just keep getting better and better. Keep up the good work JLR.
I had an XJ8L a while ago, and had problems with it being parked outside and the mice/rodents chewing the composite that the hoses were made of. Smelled anti-freeze, then saw drops under the car. Had to have the hoses replaced and 1/4 of the engine removed to get to them. Thank God I was under warranty. I do worry about this now, but the car is so great that I was pleased to step back into a new XJ.
Love this Jaguar, only 900 miles on it and have no problems with it at all, excepting for a wish that I had the stronger wattage Meridien unit, but it is what it is.....the base unit sounds fine.
Good Luck to you,
Joe
