Default OEM or Britpart thermostat

Would you go with the OEM Jag (2yr warranty) or Britpart aftermarket (lifetime warranty) for the thermostat? Both are $100.

2016, 3.0 v6, supercharged. 189k miles

OEM from FCP Euro will get you lifetime warranty for $115:

So that is not a website. Do you mean CarParts.com or PartsGeek?

I guess then my question is, if not OEM, which brand?

Has anyone used Dorman brand? They’re the cheapest option with a “limited lifetime” warranty, but I can’t find reviews.

The original lasted a decade and 190k miles for OP, I think that's pretty good for a high heat-cycle part.

While the plastic coolant parts are a weak point and known issue, it's a little more difficult to recommend an aftermarket thermostat as it's a moving part that actually needs to perform correctly.
In general, stay away from Dorman.

Unless it's a very last resort, but their parent company is going out of business anyway.

I'm sorry, I was thinking Dorman was a subsidiary of First Brands for some reason.

The Original Equipment (OE) thermostat was probably made by one of the major German OEMs like Wahler, Behr or Pierberg, so if you can find one of those it will probably be equivalent to or the same part Jaguar dealerships are currently offering in Jaguar boxes.

Cheers,

Don

Dorman was founded in 1918 and is publicly owned and traded on the NASDAQ under the ticker DORM.

I have had mixed results with Dorman parts - some have been OEM (a Toyota fuel pressure sensor comes to mind that was marked Denso, the actual OEM), but others have been substandard. I have also had very mixed results with ÜRO Parts and would avoid their thermostat as well. I would not be surprised if the Dorman thermostat was made in the same Asian factory as the ÜRO Parts one, and the same may be true of the Britpart one.

Cheers,

Don
