At this rate, and with the looming Brexit, we might not see an all-new XJ anytime soon.
They just can't afford it.

Well, it is an older design. Those are thin numbers but I don’t think any sedans are hitting targets now. But a $100’ XJ in the showroom makes all the other offerings easier to rationalize.

I’m happy my ‘14 looks fresh and remains exclusive!

Everyone (except us !) seems to want to drive double-decker buses nowadays.

Maybe because your gas prices are a lot higher.

Well, no, not really, as most XJs sold here in the UK are diesel engined. I drove one myself in January and it was on 35 mpg.

True, but everything sounds efficient in the UK because your gallon is so much bigger (4.55L), we are only 3.8L per gallon in the US.

Also I think UK roads are narrower.
I went to Houston, Texas a couple years ago and their parking spaces were 1.5x wider than in California!

Im actually surprised it was that many.

The only people asking to see Sedan's these days are the 70+ age bracket, or the kids who know they can get a screaming deal on one.

According to Grand Tour the next design is a souped up redesigned XE with a 5.0 supercharged engine from the XJR. They had to redesign almost the whole car to put it in. Jaguar XJ US car sales figures The sales figures are barely above the 2009 level. I have seen a video on the XJ redesign taking place. The biggest review complaint now is that it is an old platform that lacks features the competitors have added. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/n...ide-ian-callum Ian Callum expects to launch the next generation XJ this year.
"The new XJ is likely to feature mixed-materials body construction, a new-generation V6 hybrid drivetrain, an entirely fresh look for the interior and much more of the technology needed for connected and autonomous driving.

It’s expected to arrive in showrooms in spring 2019 and a concept version could be seen in 2018, the 50th anniversary of the original XJ. The image above shows Autocar's expectations for the model.

According to inside sources, the debate on how to replace Jaguar’s flagship model was wide-ranging. Some in the company thought the XJ could be remade as a kind of super-SUV similar in concept to the Range Rover Sport.

Others proposed an end for the XJ, believing the investment in a large saloon to take on the Mercedes-Benz S-Class might not make a sound business case. Sales of today’s XJ have risen steadily to 20,000 units per year, but that’s only a fraction of S-Class sales.

It was also suggested that the latest XF had undermined the case for the new XJ to be a conventional big saloon. Today’s XF, which is based on the latest D7a aluminium architecture, is marginally more spacious than the current seven-year-old XJ."

Regarding UK narrow roads vs driving in the US. That's so true! I am from the US but drove around UK in a rental car in 2015 or so, and it was wonderful! My favorite places were probably Stonehenge and Oxford. I was mainly ok driving on the left side of the road, except when navigating roundabouts (always wanted to drive in the wrong direction) and when seeing oncoming traffic approaching on those narrow roads! I constantly curbed that poor rental wheel, and had one blowout as a result. Thank goodness for the insurance. Beautiful country.
