No - on the XF (at least on the older X250 model) the parking sensors work like on the XJ. If you just drive forward they are not activated. If you go into reverse they activate then continue forwards and backwards until you get above about 5mph

They would detect a concrete block like that - but you have to activate it...

Thanks for the information. I came from an S Type where the fronts are on all the time and the switch is to turn them off if they get confused or if your in snow and they are beeping all the time.
