I am chasing an oil leak. I don't necessarily think it is coming from these devices, but I have no idea what these are. They are on the upper oil pan, passenger side, 2 that look identical, staggered diagonally, and covered with foam. What are these?
I appreciate the help here. For some reason I wasn't thinking they'd be this low. That being said this is not what is leaking, if you wanna call it a leak at this point. I used a borescope to get behind the motor mount which is where the source seemed to be. Well....I posted about it in this other thread here. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...st#post2921094
The HPFPs on the V6 F-Pace (now replaced by a 3.5t GV70), were way more noisy than those on my two V8s. I noticed, when I replaced the alternator, that the F-Pace lacked the noise isolation covers over pumps. This results in a really loud clatter on start-up.
Is this true for all the V6s, or were mine removed at some point?
I can't imagine they were supposed to be missing, every one i've ever seen has the foam on them.
I wouldn't be surprised that some mechanics might just not reinstall them if they replace the pumps, engine mounts or something around there.
Maybe even keep them off & try to sell them on Ebay or something.
Very many lazy techs out there that don't believe in putting insulation back on things. It's disappointing when you're a tech who actually cares and takes pride in your work. Most do not, sadly.
