Good morning / Good afternoon / Good day everyone!
I have emailed multiple people, with both Jaguar International and Jaguar USA, and nobody has responded..... -___- Is there anyone out there who can help me obtain accurate information about how many examples of my particular vehicle were produced in 2015? I drive an XJR L. I really want to know global figures for this model, but I would also be interested in North America's production numbers.
Since it is the Long Wheelbase version of the XJR, I know that it is rare. I am extremely interested in finding out exactly how rare it is. ANY assistance in this matter is HIGHLY APPRECIATED!!! Thank you for your time. =)
Mine is one of 7 produced in v6 s/c guise lwb autobiography , and 18 were v8 lwb autobiography s made for the UK market from 15 on . dont know about the USA market , and mine is odyssey/ metalico red even scarcer as jaguar had a habit of coping ole henry ford , you can have any colour you like as long as its black lol
It has been several months and nobody had been able to assist me in my search. I’ve emailed several branches of the company and several individuals. I’ve spoken with people on the phone. All I want to do is learn the actual production numbers of my vehicle! Jaguar USA told me that they’ve asked supervisors and they’re not at liberty to share any production numbers. LAME. If anybody can help me obtain the information I’m looking for, I’d very much appreciate it.
The best source for production numbers is usually Nigel Thorley in his series JAGUAR - All the Cars presently in its fourth edition, published in 2016.
Oddly, he gives no production numbers for current or recent models which suggestes JLR have not released the data. This is not entirely surprising as sales figures have been depressed for some time and the manufacturer will therefore consider this commercially sensitive.
Graham, I appreciate your response. It’s a bummer that I’m seemingly never going to learn the information that I’d love to know (and feel I have a right to know as the owner of this vehicle)… =/ Sigh. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to tell me what you know.
Eventually the production numbers will be probably known and be a metric in historical data for JLR, so your best bet is time.
Maybe in a later Nigel Thorley book.

That's interesting - just to broaden my understanding of what rights people have, how would a manufacturer be obligated to provide production and other data not germane to use &/or maintenance of the product sold to a customer, unless it's part of the specific contract?

I gotta go with Mark on this one. The only way JLR would be compelled to disclose that would be if they were asking a premium price for a limited production run then those numbers are usually available to justify the premium. For "run of the mill" production cars this is not the case.
I guess that all makes sense. It's just the XJ is the lowest production vehicle in all of those years, and then mine has the racing engine and the long wheelbase, so I figured it'd be pretty straightforward to obtain the information I've wanted to obtain. Some listings for Porsches or Ferraris, or other companies, show 1 of 317 or 1 of 650 or something like that. Anyway, it's been nearly eight months and no luck anywhere, so yeah. Thanks, 12jagmark and rothwell. Maybe after some additional years pass, I'll be able to know.

What I do is mod my cars the way I like them to be. Then I am always driving a "1 of 1"
