Question Rear Heated seats No Heat but Cooling works

Hello ! as above,

My rear heated seats do not get warm but he cooling fans work and when you turn on the heated seats you can hear the relay click just once,

i have checked fuse F18 ( rear RH seat heater module) and it is fine, (in the boot)

tried using the rear panel buttons and it shows them as being on ( red 3 lights ) and using the front Screen that again shows them as being on.

anyone have any though ?

I dont have Topix so cant plug it in and scan the modules sadly.

Front heated seats work a dream

Does the seats get cold if set on max cooling? Heating/cooling is made by peltier elements. (yes, the cooling is not just air, it is cooled air)
If there is no cooling either i suspect the peltier elements.
Do you feel the airflow from the seat when set max cool/hot? If not then there might be failed fans or ducts. (fail of the fan usually broke the peltier element too) Peltiers and fans are std ones available electronic shops or eBay etc.. Might need some soldering skils.

So the cooling fans turn of after 45/60 seconds

The fans don't switch on for heated can only hear them on cooled.

Think I'll pull the rear seats and take a look at the ducting,

Code: B1231 by service and repair manual:
------------
- The Climate Control Seat Module has detected an input temperature difference greater than expected between RH seat back sensor and RH cushion sensor
- Climate seat back assembly air path leaking Climate seat cushion assembly air path leaking
- Seat assembly damaged

Check for blockage or restriction in seat back thermal electric device fan ducts. Check seat back thermal electric device fan exhaust vent is clear. Check for blockage or restriction in seat cushion thermal electric device fan ducts. Check seat cushion thermal electric device fan exhaust vent is clear. Carry out On Demand Self Test (ODST) using manufacturer approved diagnostic system to confirm rectification.
Alternatively carry out any pinpoint tests associated with this DTC using the manufacturer approved diagnostic system.
------------
Yes. Propably ducts collapsed and blocked so temp sensor cut it off before Peltier overheats.

When I pull them apart I'll report back,

Best look for some ducting on Ebay in the mean time.

Right, pulled them all apart today,

No fans are block and spin freely, all pipework is fine with nylon blockages or collapsed parts

Exhaust sections all clear,

Only 1 element had the smalled amount of oxidation less then 2mm worth.

All fans turn on but turn off after 45 seconds still

Maybe a bad Control module?

Yes, I made sure all the filters where clear,

I don't think it's a blockage issue but more a inconsistent temp from upper and lower seat modals,

As it both sides I'm leaning towards the control module,

As the chance of both sides failing,

I'm going to get a mongoose cable and software and have a dig around as my unit can scan for codes but no dig into the raw data,

Default Rear seats are overheating fault

Mine faulted on temperature difference between saet and back. I found seat complete cushion blocking the back heater intake on both rear seats. I separated the batting and cushion from the leather. I then removed what was blocking the intake air leaving the leather as it was. BINGO, my seats have been great ever since.
