Default Rear illuminated vents used on non-illuminated Dash vents

Did a little mod today out of curiosity. I had an extra pair of rear illuminated vents that cane with my leather wrapped console back.
I swapped a rear to rear vent center before, and noticed that that black "bulbs" seem uniform all around.

I removed the dash vent out (using the homemade tool" and took it apart..as well as the rear one.

My 2 rear vents out

This pick came in handy removing the clips.

This part is what will be swapped to the non-illuminated vents. It has 2 tiny tabs that needs to slide under 2 notches on the other (see next pic)

This part clip on the cross section that you use to pull the vents out

Look closely this is what you slide the tabs under..the clip the bottom.

Like so

Used a Dremel cut a slit for the wires

Back in place.

I ended up using the metal clips from the rears. The front get mauled up upon removal.

I forgot to snap pics of where to pry the middle of the vents out (the rotating section) I used 2 small flat heads. To reinstall you just have to press it back in place.

I haven't ran the wires yet... still have to do the other side... then source 2 additional vents for the centers by the clock.

Thanks for the pics. Good to know the retrofit of the rings is that easy. Reminds me I still need to replace my dremel. I wore the last one out till it burst into flames.

This ebay listing has been around for a while and has the 2 rear lighted vents included with the blue leather wrapped housing.

Might be worth seeing if the seller would separate the vents for a reasonable price.
