Default Recommendation for rear brake pads that actually fit?

I have a 2013 XJL 5.0 V8.

I started my first ever brake job today, after getting taken for a ride by the dealership for the last 10 years.

I bought Bendix pads from Amazon that said would fit my car (I specified XJL 5.0).

when i got the old pads off i noticed they were a little smaller than the new ones (shorter). The outside pad fit fine... but the inside pad did not, and the caliper could not fit in place correctly as the pad was too long to fit in the housing properly ans the caliper bolts could not line up.

Anyway, I don't want to waste more time- does anyone have a part number that will fit?

Thanks!

The correct rear pads for your car will be the ones for the 326 mm brakes.
Sometimes there is some confusion between the 5.0 NA and the 5.0 SC as the SC has bigger/different brakes than the NA - 380 mm vs 355 mm front and 376 mm vs 326 mm rear.
So it is possible maybe even likely you bought pads for the 376 mm rear brakes.
Those pads look identical to the 326 mm ones but they are slightly different and a little bit longer, maybe 2 mm longer.
It's a common problem when buying/ordering brake pads for modern Jags - many sellers including Amazon don't specify the actual size of the brakes so you are left guessing which pads are correct.
So your best bet is to find some pads which specify "XJ rear 326 mm".

The reason why the disk diameter is not mentioned on specks is that std brake pads for rear calibers (326mm) on XJ is used on numbers of vehicles with various disk sizes. Its not just made for XJ. You like to get these:
Brembo Amazon Brembo Amazon
Or any of these part numbers:
1233679, 12799240, 1324300, 13322091, 1360254, 1360304, 1360306, 1566096, 16 05 065, 1683374, 1753860, 1805813, 2T1J-2M008-AA, 30736610, 30742031, 31341327, 31341331, 3M51-2M008-AA, 3M51-2M008-AB, 3M51-2M008-AC, 3M5J2M008A1A, 3M5J-2M008-AA, 44 06 000 02R, 44 06 016 89R, 5W932200AA, 5W932200AB, 86 71 016 711, AV61-2M008-AA, AV61-2M008-AB, BPYK2648Z, BPYK2648ZA, BPYK2648ZA9C, BPYK2648ZB, BV61-2M007-BA, C2C27271, C2P17595, C2Y32648ZA, ME3M-5J2M008-AA
These pads are so common that you propably find them in your local corner autopart shop with less price than Amazon sellers - At least its the case here in Finland.

Found an page where the sizes of pads are shown: https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/249264120

Not a very good example, those are pads for the 355 mm front brakes!

You are correct, my bad!
Dunno how I mixed up the front and rear pads, must have been a senior moment!
(BTW I had a 2010 XFS with the same 355 mm front and 326 mm rear brakes and I changed all the pads twice so I should not have got them mixed up)

It happens mate.
Yes, XF (and few orher JLR vehicles) have same ATE brakes than x351. Very easy to work with.
Majour thing is to NOT over crease the sliding pins. Flat surface of the pin is an air channel and should not be filled with crease. Very common fault by even dealer mechanics.
