Default Replacement headlamp: Non-AFS or AFS?

I am going to replace one of my non-adaptive headlights due to an LED in the signature bar failing (how annoying!). Anyway, since I don't have AFS, do I necessarily need to get a non-AFS headlight from ebay, or will an AFS headlamp work without all of the full functionality?

I cant be 100% sure because I've never tried it, but from looking at the schematics it should be possible. IIRC the motor for the AFS (left to right movement) was wired independently on the 2016 lamp units I took apart so it likely just wouldnt do anything, and even if it is connected back to the control module it wont be enabled in the CCF so the instrument cluster won't display the AFS fault lamp even if it detects a fault.

Get two AFS lamps and enable it in the CCF and that may be all you need to add AFS, but again... only an educated guess. The XF owners are more adventurous with these things.

Thanks, I think I'll give it a try. There are so many more AFS headlights on the used market. I'll follow up after making the swap.
