Default Snow cables for 20” wheels

Hello,

I’m going to Tahoe next weekend and there is a chance of snow. That could mean chain control. Now, I have AWD and all season tires labeled M&S, so that means I don’t have to use chains - but I do have to carry some.

Has anyone fitted chains to the 20” wheels? Which ones?

My Audi A6 had very limited clearance, so I used cables rather than chains. Guess I’d like to do the same on the Jag.

Thanks in advance

I live on the NV side and have gone over the hill many times with AWD and all season tires labeled M&S and have never been asked if I have chains.
I was asked once if I was in 4wd and said it was permanent awd. The guy shrugged and waved me on.
I have a 15 XJ and it handles fine. Just Slow Down.
Always better to be safe and have them. If you buy them in Tahoe you'll pay double. If you can find them.

Thanks for the reply, good to know!

I just ordered these from Walmart :

https://www.peerlesschain.com/tire-c...tirechains/176

Will test fit them before I go. Yes, I just want to have the insurance of something that will get me out of the hole, so to speak, but expect to never use them.

Mark, forgot to say have a great weekend.
They’re making snow but I haven’t heard if there’s much snow on the mountain if you’re planning on skiing.

Thank you!

We're actually going for some late hiking rather than early skiing!

The weekend was perfect, ending with doing the Donner Pass on I80 this morning with up to 6” snow in places. The Jag did great, much better than most of the SUVs and pickups.

One pickup span out in front of us and the traffic stopped suddenly, the Jag showed good braking action and held straight, while the pickup behind us started fishtailing.

The steering wheel paddles are very handy for shifting manually to get some engine braking.

Overall very impressed with the AWD. Actually better than the Quattro A6, that I used to have, or at least as I recall.

I got 4" of driveway seeking snow. Going over the pass you see the rear ends of jeeps and pickups in the snow banks. They don't play that well in the snow.
Glad you enjoyed your trip.
