Default So long and thanks!

Fellow XJ fans - Just a heads up that I've decided to part with my unicorn (2013 XJ Ultimate). It's now for sale on the marketplace forum here: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/market/205729

I likely will stay in the JLR family, but the replacement will be a vehicle built for gravel roads and bounding through the forest.

This site has been an amazing resource and I wish all of you well with your XJs!

Good luck and farewell! I assume you are moving to Landrover?

Car looks great but I think you are going to have problems getting anywhere near that price. On the secondary market, most options typically do not add much extra to a car but will help it to sell. If that was a base model 2013 XJ I think you'd probably be lucky to get around $25k. I just don't see getting another $40k above that for what you have. ****, you can get a new XJ for $65k. What did Carmax offer? I find their offers are usually pretty fair.

Thanks for the thoughts JagGate. If I don't get a decent price from a Jaguar enthusiast (that is the target market for this car) I'll just throw a car cover and trickle charger on it and let my kids deal with it someday. Yes, I'm planning to pick up a new RR diesel this fall.

The problem is not whether the car is "worth" the money. The issue is that anyone that would pay that money for a 5 year old car probably does not have the money nor can get a loan for it. It is the same phenomenon that creates the market where you can get a 2 year old Jag for 1/2 the new price (or less) like I did. Those that can afford it new buy new and don't care. Those that can't won't pay anywhere near new prices so it drives the secondary price way down. Kind of a no-man's land between new and used in these cars. Yours is somewhat of an exception with it being a special issue model. Hopefully you can find someone that recognizes what it is and is willing to pay appropriately but I fear there are few buyers out there for it.

The Ultimate is a collectors car, so it will retain it's value, you cannot compare a base XJ to an Ultimate//Supersport or Autobiography, it's like comparing apples and oranges. The same way you can't compare an S450 to an S65 or a 740i to an Alpina B7.

This thread is almost 1 year old. This XJ appears to have been sold. I disagree that the XJ Ultimate is a collector's car, and agree with JagGate.

YES

The "infinite scroll" introduced on the forum a few months ago keeps bringing up old threads which previously would have simply dropped pages down the thread list and not been seen again.

For others who dislike this feature, it can be turned off in User CP.

It would be interesting to see what he actually got for a selling price.
Used XJ's just don't have much value regardless of their rarity.
