Sold the Jag
Sad day last week, but I need something more practical for home projects, camping trips, and so on. Also have a long commute now so needed better fuel economy.
So the 2015 XJL Portfolio AWD has been sold, and I'm the owner of a new Subaru Outback Touring.
Some thoughts comparing the two :
Jaguar is more sporty, much more fun cornering.
Jaguar has a lot more power.
I don't need to say much about the Jaguar's interior - except to say that it's the best I'll ever have.
I got the Subaru in the top Touring trim, so it has most of the toys that the Jag had (or at least the ones I liked best) - nice Nappa leather seats, ventilated seats, heated steering wheel, swivelling LED headlights, and so on.
Subaru has a fantastic ride - it just floats over the bumps. The Jag was very planted at speed but you felt the bumps more on rough roads.
Road noise in the Subaru is about equal or slightly better, surprisingly.
Subaru has built in roof bars for my bike racks.
Subaru takes a hitch for even more bike racks.
Enormous luggage space with back seats down.
The tech in the Subaru is a huge improvement (as expected in a car that's 7 years newer) - especially love the adaptive cruise with lane centering. Makes for very relaxing freeway driving.
Almost 9" of ground clearance.
Anyway thanks for all the conversation over the last 3 years - I'll try to pop in now and then.
