Default Sporadic suspension fault message and having difference in suspension height, help!

Recently my XJ is showing the yellow suspension fault message from time to time. Most of the time, the message disappeared after I restarted the car. There is no obvious trigger, driving 70 miles on a bumpy highway has a high chance but still not with certainty. For several times, the "Adaptive Dynamics Fault" also showed, and disappeared after restart. The driving became a bit shaky but that can be subjective.

Tonight, after resetting the message again, I noticed the front passenger side suspension is about 3/4 inch higher than the other wheel, and slow driving did not resolve the difference. This scares me.

Any insight into the problem? And any suggestion is welcomed.

Thanks.

I'd check the left rear air suspension. But I.m no expert in this area.

Well I pulled the rear shock and the wires going to the shock looks like they twisted to the point where they snapped right at the connector. Strange how they would twist in there but regardless that was the problem. Luckily the replacement harness is still available part number LJD3075AB. Once the part arrives hopefully all will be good.

I appreciate the information here!

crtfour, out of curiosity, where is the connector located? I am having this issue and it is sporadic like others have experienced. I am looking to check out the wiring and see if I am having the same issue. I would like to take care of this while it is just a nuisance and not a hard fault.

The connection is at the top of the shock in the trunk under the carpeting.
