Default SSD instead of USB

hi ive formatted 128gb portable ssd to fat32 plugged into usb and its not being seen as connected just says plugin device any help appreciated tia george 2011 x351d

George, because you are using a SSD drive, vice a stick, the drive is going to need more power than the USB port can make (has the potential to output). I also know that there is a bit of software that is on USB sticks that makes them able to be used. Not having that software on the SSD may be preventing the car from being able to access the SSD.

George, normally there is a setting during formatting that says to treat this drive as a USB. That would then install the necessary software to make it work. If you did that, then I am not sure what to tell you.

Thermo propbly meant "Removable device" setting, what all USB drives are naturally but not nessesary set on portable SSD:s as default. Should not matter on x351, either the powerfeed, since all normal portable SSD:s use less than 480mA. what USB port can supply.
It is more like that IAMT 2.1 on year 2011 model can´t regonise 120Gb capasity. There was same similar issue earlier on this forum. I think the max was 64Gb, but not sure...?
