Exclamation SuPerCharGer Removal?

Hi Guys, so I finally discovered where my coolant leak is coming from. It is from a plastic pipe that looks like an upside down Y and in order to replace it I see that the supercharger, intake manifold and intercoolers must be removed. I have gotten as far as removing the top portion of the intake manifold but have hit a road block and cannot remove the supercharger or remaining manifold. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

There are a couple of post concerning the supercharger removal going on over on the XF (X250) forum at the moment that might help.

Your working blind!

Get the correct manual so you don't destroy things. The car is WAY to complicated to just wing it.

The bad part is the only repair manual we have is Topix and that is subscription based but it's pretty cheap for one day and you can download all the sections needed for your repair.

$60 gets you the answer
Manifold finally off engine
Superchaeger mount for dowel
Dowel that supercharger mount goes into and gets stuck on
So I finally got the intake and supercharger removed no thanks to the manual which doesn't outline anything aside from telling you that the manifold has to come off! That said, I have posted pics of the $60 engine lift I bought from amazon and pics of the dowel that were holding the manifold down. Simple enough job when you have the right tools!

Removing the supercharger seems to prove an easy task for some, and a difficult for others. Maybe your location means more corrosion on the engine components like that shown on the dowel.

Yes you couldnt be more right. The corrosion on the dowel was definitely significant enough to cause it being stuck. Thankfully I got it out!

well I'm glad you were able to figure out a solution to removal. Judging by the corrosion it looks like it would have taken some effort without the lift. Can you share which of the lifts on Amazon you bought?

Any thoughts on having the S/C ported while you have it off? If so, check out JokerZ Performance. I'm thinking about getting mine done, and would use him (Brett) if I do. I'm not affiliated with him at all, just familiar with is good reputation on porting and rebuilds.

I bought the engine lift you recommended. The front lifts easily but the back still seems to be attached to something flexible. Also did you have to recharge the a/c system after removing the hard line in front of the supercharger? I sure hope you can help. I have a pregnant wife that wants her car back!

When you changed this out, did you change the supercharger oil also? If so, can you give any tips? I'm not sure where the drain plug is. Did you do any intake cleaning while you had it apart?

The drain plug is on the rear under side of the SC.
Which means the only way to change the oil is to remove the SC!

Hello @etaent

Thank you for this post, I'm right where you were and have a leak in the exact same coolant hose. It's leaking all over my bell housing and got me worried that it's trans fluid. Thankfully it isn't.
I want to get started on this repair on my mom's 2015 X250 jaguar XF and will be buying the engine lift you recommended but have some questions for you and the community.

Besides the AC line removal that @New2Jags1110 mentioned, are there any other fluid lines going to the supercharger that should be disconnected? I'm not sure if the supercharger has oil lines going to it or it just has self-contained oil.
Speaking of which, do you know what the recommended replacement oil is for the supercharger? (and what the quantity is?)

Finally and most importantly, what's the part number for the leaking coolant hose that you had replaced?

Thank you very much, I appreciate any and all answers/direction to my questions
Jay

You need 5.1oz of AC Delco supercharger oil.

Cant answer your other questions. I did have a coolant tube under my supercharger changed (I think it was part number C2Z26930), but not sure this is correct part for you. XF forum will be better for part numbers.

Hi
I'm removing my s.c. for same reason.
question, on the back of the s.c. there is a bracket connected to the s.c. do I disconnect that first or once the s.c. is lifted. It is really hard to get in there.
thanks

To remove the black bracket, I had to climb on top of the engine, sqeeze my hand back there and disconnect the electrical connections. I then had to pull the supercharger + intake manifolds out as one unit. Then i had enough access to remove that bracket if need be.
If you're doing the same job we did above, you won't need to remove that black bracket at all. Just disconnect all electrical connectors so you can pull the supercharger + 2 intake manifolds + that black bracket on the back as one unit.
You will have to remove the wipers and wiper plastic cowling though (so you can have enough vertical clearance to pull the supercharger up and out of the engine bay).

I hope that helps,
Jay

Since you have the supercharger out the engine it would be advisable to replace the coupler and oil. the drin plug is at the back under neath the kidney shaped about 3 -4 inch down . look for a Grommet that comes out using a 3/16 allen key
