Note that URO Parts is a brand of European (get it? URO) aftermarket replacement parts made by A.P.A. Industries, Inc. Their part number, C2z21781, does not correspond to any of the OEM water pump part numbers listed in post #61 of this thread. At about half the cost of the OEM pump it's a bargain, if it lasts. Time will tell.
Carfax says my new to me 2011 XJL Supercharged WP was replaced at 42,500, along with tranny mounts. Then, the battery at 45,500. Before my ownership, but credence to the WP failure problem.
My tech has told me that the newer pumps made in Italy seem to be holding up very well.
That would, indeed, be good news. I have been carrying one of those spare Italian-made water pumps with me in my 5.0 XKR and XF full time, expecting the expected. Breaking down with a bad water pump in places where ordering could take days, better be prepared...
I like the way you think axr6. Wha is the best source for the new water pumps.
Best,
Ray
Ray, this is where I got my spare, Italian-made, water pump.
Small investment, worth the peace of mind on longer trips. Last summer I drove 1200 miles in my XKR across wild Nevada, Arizona deserts and the pump was with me all the way. Can you imagine trying to purchase a Jaguar water pump if you broke down in the middle of the desert and the nearest Jag dealer about 400 miles away?
See my previous post #61 (3/4/2016) on page 4 of this thread. At that time, the latest version was C2Z31587 and it was installed in polyesterpig's 2011 XJ on 11/18/2015. Albert's link to Jaguar Reno's online parts shows that C2Z31587 is still the most current water pump. $157.68 plus shipping.

Add my 2012 XJ SWB with the NA 5.0 to the list. Car had about 41.5k on the clock on the day. The pump failed on a desolate part of I-40 and dumped the coolant REALLY quickly. Got trailered back to Vegas and the pump was replaced under warranty.
Drove it home after the repair to find coolant being forced out of the coolant reservoir and it appeared over filled. The dealer is now reporting exhaust gasses in the coolant. Watch this space....

Looking into a 2014 or 2015 XJL. Is the water pump problem (a dealer told me the impeller was plastic) only an issue on the 5.0? What about the 3.0 V6?
I'm the imbecile who drove to Fairbanks Alaska from NJ in my 2010 PL without a spare pump. Luckily I made it without a hitch.
In hindsight I should have carried one along with a crossover pipe.
Hell, I bought my car in Fort Lauderdale, FL and drove it back to New York City and had the pump die on me right around Hilton Head. Had to get it towed around on day 2 of ownership.

A most opportune place to break down. I hope it was towed to Jaguar of Hilton Head and you stayed a couple of days at the beach and turned aggravation into a vacation. HHI is one of my favorite places.
