If it's any consolation, I have had no water pump issues since they moved to an Italian source. Also, I recommend, that you have all the plastic piping replaced. Looking at your photo, did you get a low coolant warning, first or did it "just" have a catastrophic coolant line failure?
The 19" compact spare tire has a taller profile than the 20" tire, thereby making the overall diameter of both approximately equal. Otherwise, the antilock brake system would throw a fault code and disengage.
The key is overall rolling diameter, not wheel size.
Ah, another lesson in thinking before I post! Thanks, Stuart.
Wow - sorry to hear Mr5Stars. Please do keep us posted on your results.
Water Pump Failure replacement cost Long Island NY , U.S.A.
Sexy beast is back. My EXTENDED WARRANTY covered a portion of it, but not all. If you are a Jaguar Land Rover loyal customer, do call your contry Jaguar head office and ask for consideration in Covering the cost of this common problem. Originally I was quoted $1594 U.S. for WATER PUMP labor & parts replacement, the latest version of the water pump, covered by the EXTENDED WARRANTY. In addition to another $1414 U.S. for COOLANT OUTLET PIPE , tubes and gasket replacement, not covered by EXTENDED WARRANTY. This required more labor time than the water pump replacement, since the coolant outlet pipe is behind the engine, as per the service advisor. Really LOVE this stupid Sexy car, but I am disappointed Jaguar used inferior plastic pipes and a water pump with high failure rate for their flagship .... originally retailing for over $89k U.S. .... Most of that money when to a beautiful leather interior and suade vs. mechanical parts :-) c'om Jaguar, I really wanted to prove Jaguar poor reliability was a thing of the past. I hope my Sexy beast doesn't breakdown for at least 70k miles :-)

Yeah, about six months ago I got the LOW COOLANT warning, I refilled the Coolant reservoir, saw no coolant leak, no coolant smell and no issues after that. EXTENDED WARRANTY and no other Warranty covers preventive repairs, but actual break downs, I had to wait until now for this catastrophic :-) to happend
I'm with you! Beautiful car, for sure. My 2013 is just fantastic! Comments all of the time about how it looks. Most people not knowledgeable about Jaguars, believe that it may be a new car. You may have read my current lament about trying to by an extended warranty for our Blue Leaper. It's nearing the end of the CPO warranty, has 54,000 miles on it and the best I can do to extend some kind of a warranty is to pay $7,000 for another 3-years. Again, my wife and I truly love this automobile. We're going to take a chance and "self-warranty" it. The water pump was replaced about 6 months ago (don't know about all of the plastic pipes), and all else seems to be in good shape. I've found an independent repair shop that has done all of the non-covered maintenance on the vehicle, oil and lube, brakes, cooling flush, etc. I guess we'll see what there is to see!

Jaguar 2013 XJL portfolio with 20500.M has a coolant leak and the pump need to be changed.
But the new pump on the market has a thicker coolant feed and a groove on it which does not allow engine manifold to fit in.
So am I understanding correctly that by getting the latest updated water pump (AJ813909) that it will require a couple of different hoses that are also a new design? If so does anyone have those part numbers?
Let's wait for a reply from jaguar2013. I'm not sure that the new water pump he mentioned is the correct replacement part.
I'm actually talking about the part number I posted that has been the newest Italian model for the past couple of years. Reading the other thread it seems that there are two new hoses that need to be utilized with it as well.

Well just back from the shop to have the front upper shock mounts replaced under Assurant Warranty as there was a harsh ride and made the dash rattle. Plus I had a front parking sensor failed and that was replased on my dime. Matt, also, found that the water pump was seeping and that was replaced under warranty too. The part # AJ813909 along with an "O" ring (AJ811539) and tube (C22186658). My miles are 96,425

So there was no need or mention of updated hoses? Btw...the tube part number is C2Z18658.
After doing some more digging and research its seems that some are updating to the new hoses and others aren't. However by updating to the new hose system with the new pump it eliminates the brittle hard pipe from the water pump to the TB/heater outlet pipe. SO...for about $100 in parts it seems like a good idea to install the newer hose design and get rid of another nylon pipe that will eventually break.
RoketRdr my lines and hoses were replaced the last time my pump was replaced back in August of 2015. Also, thanks for catching my part # error. I did notice that the part # for the pump (AJ813909) is the same as the number in late 2015 for my XJ.
I have 75,000 miles on my 2011 XKR and I do not think the water pump has ever been replaced. I do not see any signs of leakage but you can't see much looking under the hood and nothing on the garage floor. I sure don't want to have any catastrophic failures so what would you recommend?
Sorry looks like I posted in the wrong category.

Reason: Wrong category

My advice is "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". I'd keep driving the XKR but be wary of early signs of a coolant leak. If you're really worried about it, buy a spare water pump and hoses (make sure it's the latest part numbers) and keep them in your car
I understand your concern, but loss of coolant due to water pump failure shouldn't result in immediate catastrophic engine damage. If you shut the engine off as soon as you get the hot temperature warning, the engine shouldn't suffer any damage. But if you continue to drive, you're looking for trouble. Engine coolant has a distinctive odor, so use your nose as your early warning system. If there's a slow leak, you'll smell it after you've gone for a drive and stand in front of the grille. No smell, all's well. Otherwise, have your cooling system pressure tested for leaks. The water pump is just one of many places where a leak can happen. Adding a UV dye to the radiator and searching with a blacklight can help pinpoint hard-to-find leaks.
Dear Stuart S. Many thanks for your time.
Please, notice that the pump I purchased does not fit my car unless I change the manifold or pipe goes between the pump the oil cooler For Jaguar F-Type XF XFR-S XJ XJR Engine Water Pump Includes Gasket Uro C2Z31587. instead, I purchased another one GMB I thing which comes with a thin inlet to the oil cooler, because I think I do not have to change any other parts. Please, excuse my delay I'm not so familiar with the forum as well my English is not good enough. Best regards Here is the old and the new Coolant pump and the differences between both
