Its harder to find a set of seats with the rear package. Then to be the same color as your interior. Then it has to be in as good or better condition than the seats you already have. Then not to mention the cost of the seats. Then then now you have to find storage for your old set of seats or toss away some perfectly good seats.

also, I just love modding and overcoming challenges. It's how I learn new skills.

I think you're overcomplicating this. Its not much effort if you have experience in it.

I'm about to change the lenses on my headlights. More work than just swapping in a new set. Lenses costed me $75...and new headlights $1500.

idk... just based on the individual.

Finished one side 90% today. Just waiting for the paint on the handles to cure.

I'm super happy with the results. All the bolts/holes lined up perfectly..and threaded in with no effort. It pays to measure 2x minimum. Cause I love when everything goes as planned.

My new drill tap should be here tomorrow, and I can finish up the driver side.

.......

What I did to get the holes marked. I temporarily mounted the brackets in place. Put clear tape over the cutouts in the back panel, then put the tray piece in the panel.

Used a qtip and a dap of red polish to mark where the holes are on the clear tape.

Removed the trays then put the back panel on the seats.

Using a small drill bit...I went through the red marks on the tape...just enough to make an indentation into the metal.

Took everything out..the drilled/tapped the holes.

While I like my older style wooden trays I do like the more usable surface of the newer style. Cosmetically the new ones remind me of airplane trays.
nice job on the retrofit. I think it will look good when done.

Those oem floor mats and the wrong color A and B pillars would be on my short list to improve. Any plans for those?

Funny you say that... the wood style trays are what I had originally. I like them as well. Had them in my sister's storage and she accidentally tossed them 🤦🏾‍♂️

Thank you... just finished them today... gotta clean the inside and I'll snap a pic

I got those mats with the car... and I hate the piping. I'll eventually get some all black ones. I also plan on redoing the headliner/ pillars in black.
