Default Tunnel Hose Leak

Good evening all, New member here. I bought a 2012 XJ L Portfolio about 7 months ago. First cat and I'm in love. She just recently sprung a coolant leak and according to the local shop, it's a hose up under the intake manifold. I'm wondering if anyone here has replaced this themselves on the newer models? The shop wants about $1300, I'm assuming most of that is labor. Fighting with the warranty company since they said that this is not covered (killing me). Looking forward to any advice and or expertise. I am fairly mechanically inclined. Just wonder if this would be worth picking the car up and doing this myself or cough up the $1300 and try to get the warranty folks to reimburse me.

Thanks in advance.

Who sold you that Extended Service Contract? It's NOT a warranty because it's not backed by the manufacturer, Jaguar. Has your water pump ever been replaced? You should get that seller's help to get that company to pay the claim. If that contract specifically excludes all rubber parts including hoses, then get your Jaguar dealer to determine that the water pump is leaking (a common defect). That should be covered and the most of the labor to replace those hoses will already be covered. The additional labor and rubber parts costs will be small by comparison.

Warranty's are for mechanical and electrical "failures" not consumable items. Coolant hoses are consumable items just like brake rotors, brake pads, etc. You're warranty is not obligated to pay for a consumable item. If you're mechanically inclined and have the proper tools the job isn't too tough and will cost a fraction of what the shop quoted you.

Thank you both. I'm thinking about doing it myself. Just need to find the parts. Anyone here tackle this job?

Not sure which coolant tube you are trying to get to, but this guy on the XF forum has a thead where he just finished a similar repair. If he has the older XF, he might have a similar setup and therefore part numbers
