Cost or difficulty in changing Trans tunnel mount?
I need the rear Trans mount on my '94 6.0 changed. What should this cost at a qualified shop? I am a well experienced DIY mechanic; should I tackle this myself? I've read horror stories on this forum...
While not a pleasure cruise by any means I don't see any reason why changing the trans mount isn't fully DIY-able.
You'll need to support the weight of the transmission and take the tension off the spring....a small floor jack does the trick. After that it's a matter of disassembly and reassembly. The exhaust pipes might hamper access ....my memory is a bit foggy on that. If so, they'll have to be disconnected and allowed to drop down.
Here's a pic....

#5 in the illustration is the key ingrendient, so to speak, but I'd order and replace all the rubber parts just on general principles. Get it all over and done with at once.
Cheers

Doug is right it is a straightforward DIY job.
I'm not sure about the V12 but on my 94 6 cylinder, I ordered a rebuild kit which has all the rubber bits. I did not have to drop the exhaust, just support the transmission with a jack.

On my 95 6.0 I had to pull one side of the exhaust off to allow clearance for the plate #1 in pic to come off. I really did not think it was to hard and used a trolley jack to lower and lift the plate into position. 2 to 3 hours maybe?
