Water Pump Replacement XJ 2013 - Good Price?
Hey guys - my car is leaking coolant somewhere - mechanic states it's the water pump leaking. Also as I'd mentioned in a different post somewhere, my auxiliary battery is failing. Both are quoted for replacement, including labor at $1300 - considering other posts I've seen around, I feel like I am getting a good price. I've been told the parts have to be sourced from a Jaguar dealer in order to get the OEM, etc, etc. Additionally - mechanic stated there's some kind of tube and seal that have to be purchased along with the pump as recommended by the dealer for this replacement.
Now keep in mind this price includes the battery purchase and replacement as well - although I am debating holding off on the auxiliary battery.
Your thoughts?

Fairly good. Keep in mind if they break anything while replacing (plastic/hoses) then you'll end up with those too. I think I was charged $2400 in total, but they snapped a piece of the intake. Extended warranty covered most of it.
unless you like the eco stop start then don't replace the aux battery. also there are usually more issues than just bad aux battery. gate way module has to have software update, 1 of the 2 charge contactors are bad and they both get replaced as a assembly. And depending on the vin the battery charge module has to be replaced. yeah welcome to improved fuel economy standards....

I've had my ECO Battery replace awhile back and did not need any other repairs for Stop/Start to restart working, but it took a week for the XJ to reset itself for the "feature" to reactivate. The way the batteries work is when the ECO mode stops the engine the small battery then takes over running all the electricals so that the main battery that has the juice can work the starter. So if your Stop/Start is not functioning the Cat will be fine

The small "ECO" battery has nothing to do with starting the car. It's only function is to power the car with the engine off.
The large battery does all the starting.
So when the car is stopped all the electrical load is placed on the small battery.
That keeps the large battery from getting discharged and possibly stranding the car in traffic unable to start.
If anything is determined to be wrong the ECO function is disabled.
You are correct as posted above just leave the small battery disconnected and everything goes back to normal.
