Like Jake said on the HP, I think this satin finish looks appropriately sinister — I love it. Then again, I think there should be a temporary ban on new cars in black, silver, and white — just so the roads don't look so bland all the time. You can watch the XJR575 hit its 186-mph top speed in the video below.

I do not pay for vehicles painted with a Krylon can.

When it's done right — and I have expectation Jag will do it right — I think this looks really cool. Over the years, I've seen some great matte finishes at SEMA, and I think we'll see more of them going forward.

Not the first time Jag has used the mat finish. Here are photos from a 2012 running at Nurembergring

I am sure it will be done right. I just think that matte finished paint on anything does not look good. It also scratches easily and I am not sure that in the USA a matte finished XJ will appeal to the people who generally buy an SJ. I will be happy as long as I can get a shiny one.

Fair enough, and they'll be happy to sell you a shiny one! Ha ha!

Matte finish; not my cup of tea.

Looks great when new. Will look like crap after a year or two.
What are you going to do when you get a scratch? You can't polish it out.

This is a common misconception about flat paint jobs (done properly). Jaguar isn't wrapping the car in vinyl where this would be an issue. The car has the same paint process that the shiny paint gets with the addition of a flattening agent to the paint. It still gets the clear coat as well.

I had the aftermarket ram-air hood of my Charger painted in a flat-black. It came out fantastic and after 10 years it still looks flat and still can be cleaned to look like it did when first painted.
