Default Windshield replacement

Had my windshield cracked today on my 2015 XJL. Any idea of the cost through the dealer, or should I try the auto glass repair folks? I’m in Sarasota, FL. Thanks

Have you tried contacting your insurance first? Paying directly to have dealer do it will be costly, specially if you have heated windshield.

I had mine replaced last year. The windshield costs about $1000 at the dealership, plus about $150 for the install. You can file an insurance claim for the replacement, and that way you would only be liable for your deductible. The nice thing about this car is that there are no aftermarket windshields made for it, so the insurance company has to use a factory one and there is no surcharge to you for not using the cheaper version.

FWIW I had my windshield replaced last year and insurance covered the total cost for an OEM windshield. The issue I ran into it that the newer windshields was not tinted and the car was getting hot inside so I had LLumar AIR 80 clear tint installed and it reduced the heat being radiated through the glass. It cost me $150 and is worth every penny for me and is inadvisable to look through

Default Windshield tint

I didn't know that Jaguar even had a tinted windshield (screen ?). Of course, it didn't matter in my case as mine was a CPO, with a clear windshield. I had a 3-M product installed, clear -- dropped the pain level immensely. Still bright sun, but a lot less heat and UV.

I can definitely see some type of tint in mine. It’s not vert dark, but I’m sure it helps with the sun. Having it installed Wednesday, they ordered the replacement using my vin number.

When it comes to windshield repair, it's always a good idea to explore your options and compare prices before making a decision. While your dealership may offer windshield repair services, it's worth considering independent auto glass repair shops in your area as well. These shops often offer more affordable prices without sacrificing quality, and may even be able to complete the repair on-site at your home or office for added convenience. If you're in the Denver area, Dr Rock Chip <!--td {border: 1px solid #cccccc;}br {mso-data-placement:same-cell;}-->https://www.coloradochip.com/ is a trusted auto glass repair specialist that can handle a wide range of vehicle makes and models, including your XJL. While they may not be local to Sarasota, FL, it's worth checking with them or other reputable auto glass repair shops in your area for more information and a quote.

I had mine replaced here in Canada. Dealer quoted almost $2000 and I went through insurance. I only had to pay the deductible ($500).

Recently having had a cracked windshield too, I must say: beware! there ARE aftermarket windshields!!!
My insurance went for this seemingly cheaper option. BUT that aftermarket windshield was about 1cm too narrow. It did fit so poorly, it was replaced at no cost with an OEM windshield. Did have to wait some days for the exchange because the glass glue needs to harden first to facilitate removal.
All windshields were heated versions.
