Default XJ 3.0D 2012 Premium Luxury arrived!

Hi all!

Just picked up my new car. It's a 3.0D 2012 with 12500 miles on the clock. Love it so far, but I have 2 issues:

- "Restricted performance" waring sign has come up a few times, but when I shut the car down doesnt lit, but after a 100 miles it lit again. Before me buying it the car has been standing at a dealer for a while. Anyone know what this is?
- When driving slow over pot holes etc there is a "clonking" from the rear. Almost sound as the back seat is loose, or there is something loose in the boot, but there is nothing. Any ideas?

Best regards
Orabidoo

Have your battery load tested at your dealer - it should be covered under your warranty.

Are your sure the spare and other things are tightly secured in the trunk? Just somethign to check...

For sounds and rattles do note that sound tends to "travel".

So, we all know of the roof popping issues with XJs and various interior trim rattles but, at times it is very difficult to pinpoint the source. Since you are under warranty have the dealer worry about finding it. By now those dealers have plenty of exposure in tracing, locating and fixing those issues. Of course, as long as you can demonstrate the noise during a test drive. What is frustrating is when you have occasional rattles that never happen when the dealer's tech test drives it...

The restricted performance warning may only be nothing more than a required software update. I had one done on my new car that was throwing the warning due to some smog parameters being set too tight. The software update fixed that.
Good luck with the wonderful car,

Albert

Hi!

Thanks,

I'm 100% sure there is nothing loose in the boot. I ll let you know when the dealer has checked the car!
