XJ MAP Sensor

Have you checked that the wiring is OK. You might have a dodgy connection somewhere. Try cleaning the plug.

Falcon38, you could have an issue with either the wiring or the pins in the plug. Either can cause the voltage from the sensor to shift, leading to a false reading. This is where having some sort of data reader (some code readers can do this) and look at the MAP pressure. You should see around 25 inches of water at idle and it drop to almost zero if you get on the gas really hard with it climbing back up as the engine RPMs climb. If you get on the gas moderately, then it will drop to something around 10-15 inches, depending on how far you get into the gas.
If you can start the car, let it idle and have the reader in front of you as you move the wiring around for the MAP sensor, you may be able to narrow things down to where the problem lies.

Map Sensor error
I have the same problem and had it for months.
I also bought a new MAP sensor and made no difference, so put the original one back.
The engine light comes on for a few days, goes off but then before you know it it's back on.
Dealer wants to charge big money for looking at it but I'm sure they must have a good idea from other cars.
If you ever get the problem resolved please let me know.

If the problem gets resolved I'd appreciate it if I hear back and if I find the problem I will also post my reply, although I haven't spent much time recently having a look at it.
The only thing I would say is that the MAP sensor is there for a reason and there unlikely to go faulty itself but I also fell for it and bought another one.
I'm also not 100% about the wiring because when I connected the Dash Command software there were MAP readings when I was revving the engine.
Could be wrong though and I suppose if the error came back immediately after clearing it would be easier to diagnose.
