Default xjl CALIPER COVERS

Good afternoon, still waiting for the drivers side door latch to come in and figure I should do everything I would like to do when my car is in the dealership.
I would like to get a set of the caliper covers , is anyone selling a set? Do you recomend these for covering the rust and cutting down on the dust. (Just got new rims) or should I just have them painted?
As usual i look forward to your recomendations. Many thanks, Maria

Maria,
I wouldn't use caliper covers, as they can adversely affect brake performance. You can have them restored, with new paint and decals. Read this:

Regarding brake covers, I get it with Brembo as they tend to be fitted to performance vehicles. It may be applicable if fitting them on a car you take to track days, but probably wouldn’t make any difference to an XJ whatsoever.

It’s also not a surprise a brake manufacturer doesn’t like fake covers making out its their product that’s fitted.

Hi, I have a F Type 2016 Base, and it cannot be fitted with caliper covers per clearance per the back of the wheel spokes, unless you add spacers to the lugs which I choose not to do per my concerns per the suspension design, and also to keep the car the OEM color of the grayish/silver color of the Base 152. the other OEM brakes which could be ordered I was told have added clearance for the covers... do check with vendors.

Very nice. I also have the same caliper covers for a year and I'm just waiting to install them at the next brake service. Let us know how they do regarding trapping dust and if there is any difficulty with snow & ice since you are where you get it.

Hi, a note per these Caliper covers, Do contact. MGP customer service per your vehicle , as an example, the F-Type base, 152 wheel do not allow enough clearance
between the wheel spokes and the caliper to add their covers. They do have all the spec/s per each model and wheels/rotors you may have. Thus I hand painted my 2016 F Type , and they turned out super !

As someone posted above, I'd also be worried about cooling. It is mainly the disc that get hot, but the pad will too (and all the caliper etc). It is an 'unknown' and may not have any significant effect, but anything that limits airflow around the caliper is bound to cause some reduction in cooling, and overheating brakes = fade.

I absolutely would not worry about heat unless you are racing your luxury car on a race track, and even then, I bet they do little to increase the heat.
