Default Coolant Hose T Fitting by radiator right question

My car has a kludge by the PO with a chinese t section joining the cooling hoses by right side radiator top. It looked terrible with a fat piece of hose and big hose clamps so I replaced the section that goes to the meal pipe across the radiator with fresh hose and new hoseclips. It looks a lot better and it now also leaks. Argh.

gnarly flash photo

I'm looking for a dorman or similar T fitting like this, anyone done this and can recommend a size? Or even better the original T section hose that used to live in that location or a part interchange version, can't find it listed anywhere on jaguar parts sites

G'day Oliver,

I had a leak in that T hose and did what your PO did. I have tried to find a replacement hose with no joy so the daggy looking fitting remains.

I have thought about finding a smaller brass T fitting and bonding/lockwiring the the rubber hoses to it and wrapping the joint in self amalgamating adhesive tape to try and more closely replicate the original hose but the setup I have now doesn't leak so I am uninclined to fiddle with it.

Cheers,
Jeff.

The original T hose with the leak at the tiny split at the intersetion of the two axes.

My humble repair effort. And yes I have an all aluminium replacement radiator.

G'day Oliver,

Yep here it is CCC6434 and they are as rare as the proverbial rocking horse ****. I tried all the usual sources and breakers but had no luck.

Cheers and good luck,
Jeff.

If you find one mate then order two and I’ll buy the other one.

Cheers,
Jeff.

P.S. I couldn't resist and went and bought some more hose and a smaller T piece and some self fusing tape and made this rubber fitting as follows.

The original T hose with the leak at the tiny split at the intersetion of the two axes.

My humble repair effort. And yes I have an all aluminium replacement radiator.

The basic bits of hose fitted to the T piece.

The T piece is ribbed so I secured the hose to the T piece with some nichrome lockwire pulled tight and twisted.

Next I wrapped the T joint with several layers of self fusing tape which according to the blurb is liquid and heat resistant. All I have to do now is trim the three ends to the correct length and fit it to the car.

Done! Now run it up to temp and if all is good take the car for a run. Looks much neater than my first effort.

Aren't the 3 fittings on the car slightly different sizes? How did you guys deal with that? I know the bleed lines from the idle manifold to thermostat housing are different at each end. I used a size changing barbed coupler to replace those hoses. Then the replacement hose parts went all crispy after about 5 years.

I am still on the original 3-way bleeder hose. Recent inspection during cooling system work showed it was still in good shape, only some deformities at the ends due to the hose clamps. This original rubber hose is still supple and water tight.

G'day Richard,

Yes the three spigots are all a slightly different size with the one on the radiator the largest. I opened it up a little by forcing a pair of long nosed pliers into the hose and stretching it a little.

The other two spigots are much closer to each other in size and the hose clamps well tightened did the job.

My creation has been on the car for several days now and I have driven the car over ten times and it is still sound and dry.

Cheers,
Jeff.
