I think the MNA mount, specced for the very latter part of the X305 production run, was not fluid filled. The very expensive MMD7500AA, which is hydraulic, is still available.

If you do go for the MMD7500AA part, this is one of those things where it’s much cheaper to import directly from UK, from SNG Barratt, and in two parcels. The no-VAT price is £489.10 plus 24 shipping each. That’s about $623 each. Stay under $1000 per shipment avoids import duty, which is awful because the shipping company charges you ugly fees on top of the duty. You cannot find these in USA for less than $623 each. SNG Barratt USA is $809 each… and it’s faster to get from UK yourself than having USA branch get them from UK and reship. I did this recently with another expensive XJS item they didn’t have in stock in USA, and was cheaper even with shipping to get from UK direct. Website let me do it, no problem. I just changed the country drop down to UK on top, and used USA address at checkout.

G'day Per and others,

There is a reply to your query on the Jag Lovers website that is interesting.

Cheers,
Jeff.

Default Hydraulic engine mount compatibility

Hello all,
Does anyone know front engine mount MMD7500AA (for VIN up to 777506) is compatible with MNA7500AA (for VIN 777507 and up) which is not available for purchase?
I asked technical assistance at Jaguar Land Rover Classic Parts, but I could not get answer that I expected. They said, "I have nothing documented saying that the earlier version is compatible, but that is not to say it may be. It would be worth checking the various forums for guidance."

I own MY1997 Daimler Double Six (VIN 795773). I have severe vibrations now and I want to fix it.
I know MMD7500AA is currently available at Jaguar Land Rover Classic Parts. They are really expensive so that I want to make sure the MMD7500AA works for my car before purchase.

Genuine Engine Mounting-front-6.0 Litre (6.0 Litre) For Jaguar Xj 1995 - 1997 (from 720125 To 812255) (x300) Classic | Jaguar Land Rover Classic Parts

Thank you for your help,

Thanks Jagsandmgs for reminding me a post regarding coversion to conventional mount. I am of course interested in that, however my mechanic says labor cost will be high. I think the least expensive way may be just replacing old mounts with new ones, without cutting cone on the sub frame.

Unhappy Old type engine mounts MMD7500AA fits to later VIN 777507 and up

I learned that the engine mount MMD7500AA (for VIN up to 777506) is compatible with MNA7500AA (for VIN 777507 and up). So I ordered 2 of those and arrived from Jaguar Classic Parts who offered me 20% discount. The outer box of the part had date code of Nov. 2015. It means that the parts were made approx. 10 years ago. In addition to the rubber itself, there is probably oil in the rubber, so it is interesting to see how well a product made 10 years ago would perform as it should, and how long it would last.

Anyway, I could replace engine mounts. My VIN is 795773, but MMD7500AA perfectly fitted, but unfortunately the engine vibration at low engine speeds did not disappear. Although there was a slight reduction in vibration due to the new engine mounts, however, the old engine mounts did not seem to be the cause of the engine vibration, as the vibration continued to occur, I replaced the all spark plugs and all spark plugs were almost evenly burnt.

I am now wondering what to do next. Should I try replacing ignition coils? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you,

Hello Kenichi san,

Have you also replaced the transmission support bushng? That is a known area that can create vibration.

This video may also be useful about drive shaft support bearing.

Wires and coils would absolutely be the next stop for me. Didn’t even realize my car was running less than perfect until I replaced them. Denso was the OEM brand. I’m not sure of the cost effectiveness of ordering from USA, but rockauto.com has Denso coils for our cars for $65 each. I think I did NGK wires from $36. Cheap cheap cheap, so do it!

Yes definitely do this before going further on transmission mount etc.

As long as we are talking coils, someone posted this very helpful diagram years ago and it is worth re-sharing.,,

Unhappy

Hello all, it's been quite a while, but I replaced the coils (Eurospare), plugs (NGK), plug coad(NGK) , and rear transmission mount. The result? The vibration hasn't gone away unfortunately. After the warm-up is complete and the RPM stabilizes at 800 RPM in P range, shifting into D range (750 RPM) produces a noticeable vibration and humming sound. Shifting into P/N range brings the engine RPM to 800, and the vibration and sound subside.

Is the transmission support mount featured in this YouTube video the EBC9040 linked here? https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.../brand/jaguar/

I'm not sure if this part number is correct either. That's because the Jaguar Classic Parts diagram specifies it for the X300, 6.0 Litre ZF 6-speed automatic transmission. My transmission is a 4-speed GM unit, so the part number might be different. Frankly, I don't recall the X300 V12 ever having a 6-speed transmission option.

I asked Jack at David Manners Group, but they don't have the part in stock, so I haven't replaced it yet. The EBC9040 is also an expensive part like the engine mount, so I'm being cautious. The YouTube video says that if I feel vibration around the center console rid, there's about a 90% chance this bearing mount is the cause. In my car, there's no vibration from the center console rid; it feels like the vibration is originating further forward section.

As I reported before, I replaced a pair of hydraulic engine mount (MMD7500AA) last year. Could it possibly be a faulty engine mount perhaps? I'm at a loss as to where to fix next. Any thought / advice is highly appreciated!

Thank you,
Kenichi

There is a whole last section of the X300 TSBs that cover vibrations and such

It's in the JagRepair website I can't link now at this WiFi

The Classic Jaguar Parts for the X300 series with the 6 speed transmission error has been there for awhile

But otherwise, a very accurate and in depth information source

I replaced all three mounts recently and still have a very similar vibration. Since there is also a very harsh torque converter lockup on my car, despite nobody ever reporting issues, I’m starting to wonder about the health of the converter itself.

One shake I had was fixed by replacing rbe center support bearing on the driveshaft. It just revealed another shake but is something to check.

YMMV but I switched to that new Valvoline Restore & Protect ATF in mine and I can't say I've ever felt a 4L80E in any vehicle as smooth as this one is since then... Took a few heat cycles and some miles, but the converter lockup and even going into gear is almost entirely unnoticeable.
