Has anyone ever used one of these, seen or have one? Is there an equivalent tool out there somewhere? About to replace both my 1996 xj12 hoses and not sure how I will release them once I get the downpipe off. finally embarking on dropping front end, prompted by an oil hose giving out that needs fixing
I also posted this question in the xjs forum.
I used something like this below when I replaced my oil cooler hoses. This pic is from a local auto parts outlet.
If you can't find one big enough just get a piece of plastic electrical conduit and cut the side of it, open it up and slide it up into the QR fitting to release the barbs and you should be good to go.

Was under car on my drive earlier, looks like the driver side down pipe has to come off to access based on how to in manual, I may just fill it with oil to get it on the trailer to my workshop before dropping front end for better access while doing bushings, balj joints, shocks etc which is long overdue
I forgot to mention, I had to replace my oil cooler hoses as one of them had burst. Jaguar wanted a fortune for the OEM replacement hoses so once I got my hoses off I took them to a local hydraulics workshop and the tech re-hosed the metal fittings in about 20 minutes and I got out of it for less than $50.
thanks - yes that's my plan too, I hear you have to be careful to give the hydraulics guys oil resistant long life hose. Got a place close to me that will rebuild, don't want to have to remove the downpipes again once it's buttoned up, it's a pain!
