1996 model overmats - originals - the really deep sheepskin types - did they only come in three's or did the driver get one too - because if the driver got one I am missing one in a car I am about to close a deal on.
Also need a replacement rear view mirror but so many are offered on Ebay that selecting the correct one is a nightmare.
Good to know I'm not chasing a myth - which I was - as far as the mirror goes it would be good to know the Daimler part number - once the car lands I will pull the mirror and dig in more detail.
My car came to me with a Jaguar-branded lambswool driver mat. However, as the rear rugs were (incorrect) LWB spec, there's no reason to believe that any of these were original to the car -- perhaps you had to order the accessory set to get a driver's side.
I'm referring to them in the past tense because I got a new-old-stock "Tailored Carpet Set" of floormats, and while in storage, the lambswool rugs fell prey to moths.
Based on that picture, I went back and looked at the accessories parts listing and sure enough there are four carpets. Both XJ12s I’ve had only had three but they were trash cars! Maybe someone just threw them out.
I have also just seen a pic of one that has 4 mats too - one things for sure this is a treasure hunt - I did drop lucky on a mirror though didn't even haggle and bought it, images say it is the correct mirror but was listed for a Jaguar X300.
edit : Did these cars come with a no glovebox option - the car doesn't have one but I've seen pictures of cars that do

Reason: Glovebox wierdness
That very car is the one that triggered the question .... it is only just a 1996 - first registered 30th Dec 1996
Registration date and build can be quite different. Mine was built in September 94' but only registered in February 97'. And to top it off, it has a glovebox. The history on my car is very extensive and nothing to clue that it might have been a retrofit.
It's on for a no reserve auction over Christmas as unfortunately I only have two car spaces and the XJ is the least practical at the moment for our needs.
Nice car, few issues but mostly niggly stuff, I won't be bidding though as I refuse to add near 1k (maybe more) to the purchase price because it is at Bonhams - 7% of bid pice + VAT or a minimum of £700+VAT buyers fee - no thanks.
Sure. It's fairly standard for any auction. It's on sale from the first bid so could go very cheap. Will probably sell for less than the high peak car is on for which still needs 600 quid spending to sort out the sagging headlining. All the best anyway and hope you find a nice car. Definitely a buyer's marketplace right now.
The High peak car needs around 2k if my estimates are correct, there is a hidden story that is not clear, the response I have had so far has not impressed me, I will not be chasing them again,
As a bit of back story I have determined that the X351 and I are getting a divorce, not starting a debate on why, worst damn XJ I've ever owned.
If Bonhams weren't greedy and setting minimums (which I guess they do to keep the greater unwashed away) then I'd consider but £700 + VAT is a step too far - I didn't make my money by being stupid with it (says somebody with a V12 XJS)
