17NM! I went slightly beyond that but you should be okay around that mark.

I've had a box (+2) of new spark plugs for a couple of years now, original NGKs. Checking the records last year, I found out the last time I changed the plugs was in 2011, 40,000 miles ago! The car continues to run so well (touch wood)! You could never get away with that in an AJ16. I have had Bosch Platinums in it for this duration. Apparently a very good plug for this engine. Good thing because I remember it was a "fun" job back then!

Last year upon inspecting one old plug from the engine, I could see a major difference in the insulator protrusion. I don't suppose that would make any difference? The Bosch was still in amazing condition so I lowered the priority of this chore. Again.

Thank you for info. I found a 6ltr v12 manual on internet, it’s PDF, hopefully it loads up ok. Might help someone?

Anyone got any info on Bosch Platinum +4 spark plugs? I'm going to be doing my top side shortly and looking for durable spark plugs since the valley is quite hard to get to...

I know the NGK's are the 'official' spark plug for the 6.0, wondering how long they last. They are certainly less expensive than platinums!

Cheers

The exotics , platinum being one are a higher resistance plug

There is a balance between the current flow through the plugs and the coils heating up and aging / degrading

The original gaps were brought out from the original for that reason in my opinion

So you have to think about the price of the coils

05-2-04 Spark Plugs – Revised Specification.pdf (jagrepair.com)

There was a new discovery of a different manufacture for the inline 6 coil on cylinder but the jury is still out on durability.

I got my eyes on these bunnies from E3

I'll be sending you a PM later tonight after dialysis as I will be heading to the salvage yard Monday as a new arrival came in , not V - 112

I had problems with platinum's but not on the V - 12 as I don"t have one , this experience is from a GM

The platinum being a higher resistance plug made the top of the plug connection susceptible to carbon tracking and no fire under heavy engine load as the plug would short down the carbon track down the outside

I was never able to troubleshoot the misfire until put up on a load dynameter and you can see the short visually.

I had a oil leak in the area that set up the condition. burning vapors off the exhaust manifold
