Default Spark plugs

I've seen lots of recommendations for spark plugs. My handbook says Champion RC89 PYC for my UK 3.2. Is this the one to go with, or are there better options out there now?

Any help much appreciated.

I have only ever used NGK spark plugs in all of my cars since around 1980 and never had a problem.
I switched to NGKs after issues at different times with poor quality Champion plugs.
I have been running my 3.2 using NGKs for 8 years - I think the code is BCPR6E

There were many previous discussions about spark plugs. Here is Jaguar TSB 05-1-07 [EBC8143 is Champion RC12YC] about what plugs to use, which superseded what was stated in the owner's manual. The purists will stick to Champion Plugs, while many others choose to use NGK instead. I had a terrible experience with a Champion plug in one of my cylinders (read this thread), not sure if it was the coil that killed it or the other way round. I am going to try on with a full set of NGK.

I had tried NGKs and Champions, my car misfired like crazy and did not run properly. I went with the E3.48, since purchase I've had zero problems. Running with new coils and plugs I am getting about 20 MPG (US) in city and 29 highway.

There are compatibility issues between the coils and some makes of spark plugs. I would strongly recommend staying with the original equipment spark plugs. Champion RC9YCC (except North America, normally aspirated engines)

the ngk bcpr6e works fine on mine. i have never quite understood why the ngk are sold as standard option to the x300 though. they are another height then the champion standard ones, but they do work fine.

basically the champion plugs are a standard size called iso while the ngk plugs are jis size. the difference is only 2,5mm so i guess it doesnt matter much?
