'05 XJ8 or '05 S Type??
hi all, i have a dilemma, my 2000 xj8 finally gave up the ghost when a cam chain tensioner let go/disintegrated and i am now looking at two jags as a possible replacement.
i would appreciate any feedback on both postive points and more importantly any problems/things to look out for before buying either.
the first is a 2005 xj soveriegn 4.2l petrol showing 88000 miles.
the second is an "S" type tdvi 2.7 diesel showing 63000 miles.
any comments on any other jaguar models of the same sort of era/price range would also be helpful.
any help would be much appreciated.
thanks in advance, all the best, rod.

Greetings. In my search last year, I definitely wanted a 4.0 S-type. However, I merely went to drive an '05 XJ Vanden Plas (is that the same as a Soveriegn over there?) and ended up buying it that day. I LOVE it. It also averages about 22 mpg on gasoline which is very good (27 on the highway) for such a huge car. It's beautiful, big (much larger interior than the S-type), and very comfortable. I'm so glad I went this route. For me personally, 88000 miles would give me pause; just a little high for me. also I have no experience with diesels, just FYI.
well thanks for the couple of responses. i've now made my choice and the xj sovereign has won the day (this will be my 4th xj and the diesel was a head choice but the heart won). i pick it up next week and any other feedback with regards to things to look for would still be apreciated. cheers again, rod.
