Default 06 VDP, nav screen went blank (temporarily)

I have a 2006 VDP. After being parked overnight, when I went out to start the car, the touchscreen was blank. It was all black, but somewhat lit. It was this way for radio, nav, phone, climate, etc. I could still use it, if I guessed correctly where things were. For example, if I pressed the audio hard button, I could change radio stations by touching the screen, even though I couldn't see anything.

Anyway, the next day, everything was fine and back to normal, screen looks and acts normal.

Is there some sort of dimness control that went haywire and turned the screen down so I couldn't see anything? Is this a cause for alarm? Do I need to get this checked, or just wait and see if it happens again?

Had you been playing around with the options menus?
In the menus there is an option to dim the screen at night and to auto-dim.
I tried this but it was too dim for me and I like it bright day or night.

Was it really really REALLY cold overnight? Temp has alot to do with the immediate brightness levels on the LCD (or whatever) screen it has.

No, I did not play with any options or the dimness control.
It was not really very cold -- I'm in St. Louis, it been maybe 35-45 at night lately.
It stayed off for my entire ride, even after the car was warmed up. It didn't come on until the next day when I started the car.
