Don, With engine running I press down on suspension and after five presses the suspension locks solid. Is this normal.

cheers

Hi Steve,

I just tried this on our '04 XJR and it behaves exactly the same way. On the fifth press it hardens up. I can only assume that the system is stiffening up the suspension in response to the excess motion sensed by the vertical accelerometer.

BTW, I am very careful when pressing on an aluminum-bodied car.....

Cheers,

Don

Abonano, I realise this is a very old post......However I have a persistent C2304 code which I cannot clear with my iCarsoft LR V1.0 code reader, despite performing all the pinpoint tests successfully (i.e. all ohms and volts at the 4 dampers are now correct....I had a poor connection at ASM CR89)?

Shouldn't the code clear itself if the root cause is eradicated ? Or do you think that what you say above the case, please?

Hi Ray,

Until abonano replies I'll chime in. First of all, congratulations on figuring out the poor connection at CR89. Good work!

Secondly, for whatever reason, some of the ASM DTCs do not want to clear on their own even after a fault has been corrected. Jaguar/Land Rover SDD can clear the codes, but I also have an Autel MaxiSys Elite that can read and clear virtually all Jaguar codes, including those for the air suspension. I suspect that other professional systems by Launch, Autologic and AutoEnginuity can also clear these codes, and possibly some of the higher-end scan tools from SnapOn, MAC, Matco, Cornwell and OTC/Bosch. If you have a good independent shop in your area that works on European cars, they probably have one of these systems and may be willing to scan and clear your codes for a modest diagnostic fee.

Cheers,

Don

EsRay, Don is absolutely correct. Aim for SDD or any of the other platforms mentioned. If the code persists there may be further issues.

Good luck
