Default 2004 xj8 fuel pump motor only

Need cross reference for 2004 xj8 4.2 fuel pump motor only. 1X4U 9350 A1A. I think a Ford part fits, looks to be generic.

2004 fuel pump only, not assembly: eBay E2226, Airtex w kit (USA), MUST use (splice) supplied connector, polarity shown on OEM pump. Ugly job overall, had no instructions, two "cross" internal hoses must be disconnected in tank. Ugly ugly. Part cost: $19.98, cheap.

Part shipped IMMEDIATELY, KANT WAIT! WANT JAG!

I gave up and ordered the whole assembly from Airtex. I think Jag runs the fuel pump using a PWM modulated circuit... I'm not sure if Ford does the same or whether the pump would operate equally well. I'm also worried that the problem could be a cracked crossover hose that is bleeding pressure.

Replaced pump motor only, problem not solved, cold idle steadier. Must be crank sensor as its intermittent. Tank float seems hung up now, will rock assembly to free it.

If there's no crank signal there should be no spark right? I think I'm going to get a deep well spark test kit to verify that I've got spark when mine doesn't start. I only experience the no start condition in very cold weather lower than 25F.

Sounds like you have a correct idea. The crank sensor is weak, while running it generates a signal, cranking speeds too low to always produce a signal, hence spark/no spark.

Opened up pump in fuel tank, moved float arm around, key on to check fuel level. A pain. Level reading correctly now. Put everything together, incl. seat. W eBay tool unable to tighten rings to orig marks, but no smells, really tight. Think xj8 needs cam sensor, prob farm it out for replacement.

Do you have a scantool that will read out your fuel trim data while the engine is running? Mine is basically behaving the same way and when I can actually get it running it is running VERY lean. Fuel pressure looks good on the rail even when it won't start. I'm going to verify that I have spark when I get home tonight. Based on the fuel trim data I suspect a massive vacuum leak from the intake manifold gaskets. I also was able to cause the engine to surge by spraying some brake parts cleaner around the outside of the manifold at the various gaskets, so they are definitely leaking. I'm going to completely re-seal the intake before I replace the fuel pump. Amazon cancelled my order for the Airtex for no reason at all so I don't even have a pump to install at this point.

Got my "airtex" fuel pump on Ebay. Works great, exact fit top and bottom details, etc. Did not solve prob. start, which may be cam sensor cancelling spark signal. I'm going to try and farm this out to an after hours Jag mech. BTW, I fouled the float reassembling pump, had to get back in tank to do tweeks, now reads fine. A bit dodgy, rather.
