Default 2004 XJR Codes

Hi everyone,

I've got a 2004 XJR with 71k miles that is showing codes:

P0305 - Cylinder 5 Misfire Detected
P1316 - Injector Circuit / IDM Codes Detected
P1108 - Duel Alternator Battery Lamp Circuit Malfunction

Starts fine. There is a noticeable misfire under load. Smooth idle. I have thought about replacing the injector, but if I did that- what other parts would I have to order while the SC is off?

I'm not sure what to do about the P1108 code. Any help is appreciated.

Thank you very much.

For starters.

P1108 is NOT what you think.

Hmm. I inputted the vehicle information into my scan tool and that's what the verbiage said. I guess I could pick up a MAP sensor if that is the actual cause of the code.

The generic code you can look up is NOT the Jaguar specific code that it actually is.

P1 codes are by OBD definition non-generic i.e. specific to a car. The car maker can decide what they mean in any way they choose, even if they liked per car (no-one does).

So you need the Jaguar meaning for both P1316 & P1108 for your car (by year, engine size, etc).

A typical OBD tool fails even to tell you this crucial information - PATHETIC isn't it?
