Does anyone know the best way to edit the VID block on a 2005 XJR? I replaced the ECU with a used one and am trying to match the VID block VIN number with the car. I have SDD v164 and got the seed key calculator to enable VID block mode in SDD, but with that I am not seeing a way to edit it, and also don't know how to calculate the check sum for the VID block with the new VIN.

I have found numerous threads on the subject but no conclusive way to do so. Anyone know?

 

old ecm around and has comm? just download the vid go straight to vid block read on the new one and upload the old one in

if you don’t have it program the ecm as existing with the connector unplugged. when it says comms failure with the ecm and it prompts you to put the battery cable thing go hook the connector back in.

then it should use the as-built from the current session.

just keep playing around and figure it out.

 

I have a few versions of SDD. None will find 'As Built' for my 2004 X350 NA even though it is there in exml file. Any ideas as how to have SDD get the file?

 

you program an ecm with no block and it calculates it internally according to vcats data you entered at the start of the session 🤷‍♂️
